It is the responsibility of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office to provide a safe and secure environment for all persons that have any business within the Minnehaha County Courthouse. This includes but is not limited to: the judiciary of Minnehaha County magistrate courts, circuit courts and juvenile courts, as well as for court officials, witnesses, jurors and defendants.
All areas of the court buildings and all persons therein deserve and should be provided a secure environment in which to work and conduct court business. Officers provide roving presence in the Minnehaha County Courthouse and campus, perform security screening at entrances, make emergency response to disturbances that occur in the courthouse or adjacent administration building, take persons into custody as directed by the court, provide first responder first aid and summon appropriate medical assistance, act as liaison for/with other agencies during emergency situations, and provide general assistance to the public in a professional and courteous manner.
