There is a per day charge for each day you are on electronic monitoring, whether you work or not. The current fee per day is $15.00 for Minnehaha County inmates and out of county inmates. The fee is subject to change anytime.
Anyone sentenced authorizing EM are ordered to participate in the 24/7 program.
When you turn yourself in to begin you sentence on electronic monitoring a person must have money up front in order to begin the program. If you do not have the money, you will not be eligible for the program. If you owe past room and board you have to setup a payment plan ahead of time. The following is a list of money required when you report to serve your sentence. The amount you need depends on what day you report. Cash is accepted and we do take credit cards through the kiosk.

Payments are in exact amounts, broken down into electronic monitoring and urinalysis.
There is a $15.00 fee for the urinalysis test. This fee must be paid prior to testing. You will not be eligible for a retest for five days should you fail your initial test. You will have to pay for each retest. Exact change is required.
After the first week is paid, the weekly fee is $105.00. The payments are due on Sunday by 11:00 p.m. for the following week.
Requirements before you begin electronic monitoring
Prior to beginning your sentence you will need to fill out an electronic monitoring application. The applications can be obtained at the front desk of the jail at 305 W. 4th St. Sioux Falls, SD. The application needs to be turned in at least two weeks prior to the start of your sentence.
After you have filled out the application, you will need to forward the paperwork to your employer and have your employer contact the electronic monitoring office. The sooner you employer contact the electronic monitoring office the smother the process will work for you.
Self-employment on electronic monitoring
If you are self-employed you will need to bring in tax forms from the previous 2 years, as well as a valid tax license, and insurance.
Requirements for driving a vehicle on electronic monitoring
Valid driver’s license, valid work permit, valid insurance listing you as a driver.
