Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office’s Explorer Program is a career development and education program that is open to young adults who are between 14-20 years old and have an interest in the law enforcement profession. The purpose of the program is to provide training and experiences that assist young adults in making an informed decision as to whether or not they wish to pursue a law enforcement career. The program also helps young adults to build character, develop leadership skills, gain appreciation for community service, and develop good citizenship.
As an Explorer, you will learn about the educational requirements for a career in Law Enforcement and receive tangible advice on steps you could take now to prepare and position yourself for a successful career in the field of Law Enforcement. You will receive continuing classroom education on Law Enforcement topics as well as hands on activities and ride-along time.
If you are interested in joining the Explored Program, please contact Deputy Skyler Earley Stonearrow at searleystonearrow@minnehahacounty.gov or Deputy Rick Johnson at rjohnson@minnehahacounty.gov.
